Filming is underway for the upcoming BBC Two comedy series Henpocalypse!

The end of the world and hen parties are two things that don’t typically go together-live. However, in the upcoming BBC Two series “Henpocalypse!”, these two events collide in a six-part comedy that follows a hen-do that’s interrupted by the apocalypse.

The series centers around bride-to-be Zara, played by Lucie Shorthouse, and her fellow working-class West Midlander hens who are faced with the struggle for survival as they wait out the breakdown of human civilization in an isolated holiday cottage in Wales. Along with the usual tensions of a hen party, they must also face the unknown post-apocalyptic world armed with only their wits and a whole cartload of hen do paraphernalia.

Joining the cast is former EastEnders star Danny Dyer, who will play a fictionalized and heightened version of himself, coming to the rescue of one of the bridesmaids in the brutal post-apocalyptic world. The strong female ensemble includes Elizabeth Berrington as Zara’s formidable mother Bernadette, Callie Cooke as put-upon chief bridesmaid Shelly, Lauren O’Rourke as conspiracy theorist beautician Veena, Kate O’Flynn as one woman disaster area Jen, and Ben McGregor as entrepreneurial stripper Drew.

Filming is currently taking place in Wirral and Snowdonia for “Henpocalypse!”, which has been commissioned for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. The Executive Producers are Phil Clarke, Helen Williams, Jack Bayles, and Roberto Troni, with VAL as part of BBC Studios’ portfolio of invested indie production companies. BBC Studios will distribute the show internationally.
